It has been a while since Synology first introduced the HAT3300 drives for mid-range devices , and now a replacement model HAT3310 drive has been announced This new model is expected to hit the market in the United Arab Emirates by the end of December.
Although Synology has yet to provide official specifications for the HAT3310 drive, we can make an educated guess that it will feature a faster rotational speed of 7200 RPM, an upgrade from the previous 5400 RPM offered by the HAT3300. Given that the HAT3300 was built around Seagate Ironwolf drives, it's likely that the HAT3310 will follow the same pattern. As of now, it has been announced that the HAT3310 will initially come in an 8TB version, which we anticipate will be based on the Seagate ST8000VN004 (7200 RPM) model, in contrast to the ST8000VN002 that the older HAT3300 was built upon.
For end-users and system integrators, the transition from the old HAT3300 drives to the new HAT3310 drives should be seamless. Both will feature Synology firmware and will work smoothly with each other. The only hiccup is the short-term gap in the availability of 8TB drives.
